Ceramic Curiosities is the pottery studio of Emily Kellerman, a craftswoman and artist. From her atelier in Minnesota, Emily uses both wheel-thrown and handbuilt pottery techniques to create unique ceramic pieces and artistic series of works.
Emily trained and worked as a violinmaker for two decades, honing skills that can be seen in the fluid curves of her creations. She loves finding ways to translate mathematical concepts into a three-dimensional design. Music and nature are other recurring motifs in her work. Above all, she seeks to create distinctive items that inspire interesting conversations.
Welcome to my studio!
I have always been fascinated by clay and particularly the potter’s wheel. When I was a child, my parents gave me a Fisher Price pottery wheel powered by two D-size batteries. It was not an effective wheel! I though the art form was beyond me, both in terms of equipment and skill. Many years later, I took an introductory pottery course and was able to use “real” equipment… I was hooked! I gradually acquired my own tools, pottery wheel, and kiln. Now I work in my home studio creating ceramic art both functional and unique.
